From RubberStampMadness from Spring 2010!

RubberStampMadness is the original stamping magazine.

"Nothing lifts the spirit like a happy penquin or a happy cat. These four cards can be put together quickly, but they are also fun to make. You'll smile when you make these cards - and the friends that you give them to will smile when they receive them!"

Local stamp artist gets national recognition

WURTSBORO, NY — Local rubber stamp artist Anna Seniw, owner of The Creative Corner in Wurtsboro, was recently featured in the trade magazine RubberStampMadness (March/April 2008 edition) for her design “Bloom,” seen above. In 2007, one of Seniw’s Valentine’s Day card designs had been singled out for praise by the The Rubber Stamper magazine

The Creative Corner, which opened in 2004, holds a variety of rubber stamp paraphernalia and hosts educational workshops.

Spring has Sprung - by Karen Sweeny-Justice

"When I think of spring, I think of new flowers and growth," says Anna Seniw who owns the Creative Corner in Wurtsboro New York (in the Sullivan County and Hudson Valley). "I just love flowers. Unfortunately, the deer eat everything here, so I have given up on planting flowers. I therefore love to create with flowers."

"I was using thi new Outlines Stamp for a class," says the artist, who has been with the group for over two years, "and basically created this (the above card) for it. I liked the color scheme."

The lilac and green card she designed for spring is full of surprises. The base of the card is a green layer, the first of three layers that Seniw stamped on different colors of cardstock. After stamping the image again on the other colors, she cut out sections and attached them in place of the base to give the images dimension. When this was done, the artist added some additional touches.

While they may not be visible in the photo of her care pictured here, Seniw restamped ortions of the collage on acetate with Staz-On-ink and mounted those areas above the initial impressin. "I colored with Souffle pens on the back of the acetate, she explains. "You stamp on one side of the acetate and color on the reverse."

Further embellishments were added with little green gemstones and glitter pens. Another dimension was added by making the center piece open for an enclosure that says "Dream Big."

"I have my artwork displayed on the www.creativecorner-ny.com," Seniw says. "And I encourage people to come to my shop and see lots of samples there. I know how important it is to inspire my customers, so I continuously mane new samples with new stamps all the time."

"I have this rule:Stamping is fun, and when you start to worry about it, it's not fun anymore."
